TECNA explosion-resistant (*ATEX-rated) retractors and zero-gravity (depending on models) are safe for installation in potentially hazardous environments such as explosive areas containing flammable fumes, gases including propane, ethylene, acethylene and hydrogen (IIC group), as well as flammable dust.
* ATEX (atmosphere explosibles) is a set of European Union directives designed to ensure the safety of products used in explosive environments. ATEX certification, beside other features, requires products to be entirely conductive, grounded and with spark-proof materials.
TECNA offers a line of explosion-resistant retractors and zero-gravity tool balancers. ATEX tool retractors are typically installed above a workstation for convenient user access, and can easily be pulled down to complete a task. After completing the work, the tool is released and the retractor automatically returns to the original or starting position. TECNA ATEX zero-gravity balancers use a conical drum, calibrated to provide constant upward tension that counterbalances the weight of the suspended tool or load. This achieves a floating neutral support where gravity is essentially negated, allowing near-effortless positioning, while maintaining the the operator’s last position.

TECNA explosion-resistance zero-gravity balancer “.F” versions includes a brake/friction device. It is not possible to assemble such device on balancers already installed.

TECNA offers both ATEX-rated RETRACTORS and ZERO-GRAVITY balancer models.
TECNA ATEX-rated retractors and zero-gravity balancers as designated “AX” (example: TECNA 9310AX Retractor Balancer).
OPTION “.FAX” version is equipped with a friction / brake that controls the rotation speed of the drum (example: TECNA 9524.FAX Zero-Gravity Balancer).
Balancers models 9346LAX – 9350AX are equipped with a stop device allowing to stop the load in intermediate positions of the stroke, about every 3.94 in. (100 mm). The stop device can be activated and deactivated at the operator’s choice.
TECNA recommends OPTIONAL ACCESSORY “RC” – Rotary and insulating device for ATEX-rated zero-gravity balancer models 9502AX (9502.FAX) – 9505AX (9502.FAX) and 9520AX (9520.FAX) – 9525AX (9525.FAX).
OPTIONAL ACCESSORY “BC” – Locking-unlocking device with improved control from the floor. Available for ATEX-rated zero-gravity balancer models 9502AX (9502.FAX) – 9505AX (9502.FAX) and 9520AX (9520.FAX) – 9525AX (9525.FAX).
